Cologne -- A 19-year-old German woman has been arrested for biting off the ear of a 27-year-old woman following an argument in an Internet chat room, police said on Friday.
After the online dispute, the older woman turned up at the 19-year-old's door in Cologne late Thursday and proceeded to hit her with a beer bottle. In the ensuing scuffle, the younger woman then bit the other's ear.
The ear "then was partially ripped off following a movement of the head," Cologne police said. "To defend herself against further attacks, the younger woman injured her adversary with a knife."
Police arrested the 19-year-old, who will now stand trial on charges of grievous bodily harm. The older woman's ear was sewn back on in hospital but she also faces criminal proceedings, police said.
It was unclear what the argument was about.
