BRUSSELS -- A new poll shows that most Europeans reject food from cloned animals.
In a European Union survey released Thursday, 58 percent of consumers said cloning animals for food production should never be justified and a majority said they would never buy meat or milk from cloned animals.
The poll highlights a division between Europe and the US on genetically modified food.
The US government said in September it will start considering proposals to sell genetically engineered animals as food, a move that could lead to faster-growing fish and cattle that can resist more diseases.
