Berlin-based Brit comedian Jacinta Nandi has “started a Mommy Blog for ExBerliner, it's all like funny humorous stories about how exhausting it is being a mum, like the Eye always satirizes in ‘mummy for old rope.’ Only mine's really funny, of course. So CHECK it out, you guys, and comment, comment, comment.  I'm in it for the comments, you know.”

Call for submissions: Gangway Literary Magazine seeks submissions for Issue 39, Autumn 2009: BERLIN: 20 Years Since the Wall Collapsed

East side/west side...Anarchists...Allied forces...Kubat Dreieck...What happened to Prenzlauer Berg?...Media Spree?...Do you still dream of Helmut Kohl?...Do you remember when Berlin was cool?...Do you remember when Berlin was not cool?...Poor but Sexy...What does it mean to live, love, and leave a city like Berlin?

We seek work about and around Germany's capital city, retrospective pieces about life in the divided city, accounts of 'being there' in November 1989, poems, stories, and anecdotes about the time after.  We are looking to create a comprehensive look at life in Berlin in the twenty years that follows the fall of the Berlin Wall.  That includes a look into Berlin 2009.

All submissions are welcome as long as Berlin places a necessary role in the ecosystem of the piece.

We welcome poems, stories, and short non-fiction of any length, though it should be mentioned that epic poems and multiple chapters from novels will probably not be read with great excitement, no matter the quality.  Imagine the pleasure of reading it on a computer screen as your length guide.

Please send up to 5 poems, or 3 short fiction/non-fiction pieces, or a combination of the two, to berlinpoems2009@gmail.com by August 15, 2009.

NO MAN'S LAND # 4 - CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS no man's land is seeking submissions of German literature in translation for Issue # 4, to appear Winter 2009. Deadline: August 15, 2009. For more information see: www.no-mans-land.org/
