MADRID – Renting a flat on the frontline of the beach of some Spanish beaches can cost more than EUR 5,000 a month, according to a study published Wednesday.

In Guipuzcoa, Barcelona, Girona and Ibiza holiday apartments in August cost an average of EUR 60 per squared metre, with expensive ones as much as EUR 80 per squared metre, said the report by valuation company TecniCasa.

The most expensive destination in August is Hondarribia, in Guipuzcoana in the Basque region where a flat which is 60 metres-squared costs EUR 5,083.

In Ibiza, the most expensive destination is Cala Tarida where a 50-metres squared flat costs EUR 3,720, followed by Santa Eulalia where the same sized flat costs EUR 3,000.

In Barcelona, the most popular holiday flats are found in Sitges where a 60-metre-squared flat costs EUR 3,900.

The coast of Valencia is the most expensive in Spain with flats in some areas costing more than EUR 4,000.

Holidaymakers are more likely to find bargains in Galicia in the north of Spain and in Andalusia, with the exception of Cadiz, and Mallorca where flats can be found for EUR 1,500-2,000.
