Spain's rival political parties declare that ETA will face justice for three recent bombings.

MADRID -- Spain's main political parties, labour unions and associations representing terror victims condemned ETA on Monday after the Basque terrorist group killed an army officer and injured 18 people in three weekend car bombings in northern Spain.

In a statement signed in Congress, representatives of all of Spain's main political parties said ETA will face "justice" and that they will continue to work together to "defend life, freedom, democracy and the rule of law".

It was the first joint condemnation of an attack in which the main opposition Popular Party did not criticise the Socialist government's policy toward ETA.

The political unity also drew attention to the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV), which, despite signing the condemnation, has criticised the recent outlawing of two radical parties linked to ETA.

Miguel Ángel Revilla, Cantabria's Socialist premier, accused the PNV of being "ambiguous" on terrorism. "The outlawing of political organisations linked to ETA is being questioned by the party that should be leading the fight against terrorism", he said.
