25/07/2011Sharp differences in hiring intentions across Europe

Recent research reveals sharp differences in companies' intentions of hiring professionals and managers over the next three months.

Research carried out by the recruitment firm Antal has found that 64 percent of UK companies surveyed predicted that they would be hiring professionals and managers over the next three months. This compares with 59 percent in France, 57 percent in Belgium, 52 percent in the Netherlands, 46 percent in Italy, 32 percent in Spain and just 28 percent in Germany. The German figure was depressed by low hiring intentions in the automotive (23 percent), chemicals (19 percent) and fast moving consumer goods (9 percent) sectors.
