Lufthansa resumes Frankfurt-Taipei route

4 March 2004

TAIPEI – German airline Lufthansa plans to resume its Frankfurt-Taipei service as global passenger traffic has recovered, the company’s agent in Taiwan said Thursday.

“Since global air traffic has recovered and business on the Europe-Taipei route has improved, Lufthansa plans to reopen the Frankfurt-Taipei route,” said Julie Yeh, from World Express Inc. She added that no date has yet been set for resumption of the flights.

Lufthansa opened the Frankfurt-Taipei service in 1993, providing a twice-weekly flight with a stop-over in Bangkok. It suspended the service in 1996 due to a lack of business.

Currently Taiwan passengers must fly to Hong Kong or Bangkok to catch a Lufthansa flight to Germany.
