A thief targeted his official car and managed to get away with the PM’s laptop computer and some personal belongings.
The news was released by Het Nieuwsblad and has been confirmed by the VRT.
The incident took place on Monday evening, while Mr Di Rupo was doing a physical workout in a health centre near Troon.
His driver had gone to a bookshop.
The thief smashed a small back window of the Audi A6, gaining access to the trunk by putting down the back seat.
He found the laptop in the trunk and also took a suit and a shirt.
Unofficial sources claim the PM told the police the computer contained "important data concerning domestic policies and the royal family."
Mr Di Rupo’s spokesman however was quick to deny that "classified information or state secrets" have been lost.
He also confirmed that the laptop is properly secured.
An investigation has been started, but it has been confirmed that the laptop only held personal notes and working files, and no state secrets.
A suspect could not be identified or arrested yet.
