“Belgium faces structural shortage of engineers”

A barometer published on the occasion of the 6th Day of the Engineer by USG Innotiv Engineering shows that a fifth of these jobs never get filled.

"Belgium faces structural shortage of engineers"

The survey revealed that only one in three businesses hiring engineers managed to fill all their vacancies last year. Many of the people who apply for the jobs don’t possess the necessary technical and professional skills.

USG Innotiv Engineering says that Belgium is suffering from a structural shortage of engineers. 95% of businesses do not believe that the matter will be sorted soon.

Employers insist that 30% of applicants don’t meet their demands. USG Innotiv Engineering says that employers should change tack and look at applicants’ potential and conduct in-job training.

2,000 engineers, students and businesses took part in the study.
