Belgian airlines take Ryanair to court

BATA accuses Ryanair of unfair competition both at the airports of Brussels and Charleroi.

Staff working for Ryanair are subject to Ireland’s business-friendly tax regime that is more beneficial for the company than Belgian tax provisions.

BATA lawyer Filip Tilleman: "When an employer provides jobs it should also respect Belgian labour law. The indexation of wages that keeps salary increases in line with price rises is a sensitive issue. It’s an incredible advantage for an employer not having to index the salaries of employees in Belgium."

BATA includes Brussels Airlines, Jetair Fly and Thomas Cook.
