16/02/2012Verhagen: parties interested in NedCar

Talks with parties which have shown a serious interest in taken over Dutch car manufacturer NedCar will take place later this week. However, it is not known how serious they are and what conditions they would attach to a possible takeover.

Economic Affairs Minister Maxime Verhagen made these remarks in parliament during a debate on the future of the car factory in Born. He pointed out that Mitsubishi’s decision to pull out of NedCar has become widely known and that requests for information have been submitted.

Mr Verhagen said that it must become clear first under what conditions Mitsubishi would be willing to sell NedCar to a new party. This is one of the issues the minister will discuss with the Mitsubishi management when he travels to Japan on Monday.
