ANTWERP – Two men were arrested in Antwerp on Wednesday night on suspicion of involvement in the stabbing in Scheveningen last Sunday.
The public prosecution department announced this on Thursday. The 52-year-old owner of café 't Snuitje was stabbed to death in the incident.
The suspects are two British men, aged 31 and 49. The 31-year-old man is purported to have stabbed the victim. The other man's role in the incident is still being investigated.
The police tracked the men down from witness statements. The public prosecutor has asked the Belgian authorities to extradite both men.
"If the suspects cooperate with their extradition they could be in the Netherlands in two weeks," said a spokesperson for the prosecution department.
The stabbing took place outside the café. About ten people were in the café at the time of the murder. It is not yet clear whether they witnessed the incident.
