AMSTERDAM â Dutch police have warned local people in the south of the country to be on the lookout for two men who tried to abduct two young boys in separate incidents this week.
The suspects have Belgian accents and were in a red convertible car with Belgian number plates.
Police say the first incident took place on Tuesday morning in the Dutch town of Prinsenbeek in North Brabant Province. The men tried to persuade an eight-year-old boy to get into their car near a primary school on Schoolstraat. They grabbed him but he managed to struggle free.
The same car was spotted in the area on Wednesday morning. The second abduction attempt took place around 1pm at Pastoor Oomenlaan in Prinsenbeek. The driver hemmed him an 11-year-old cyclist but again the boy managed to get away.
Police used the SMS alarm system to warn mobile phone users in a 10km radius around the town to watch out for the car and the men. A police search was also mounted on Wednesday.
