19/06/2007Nursing home wants HIV case investigated

19 June 2007

AMSTERDAM – The directors of the Blauwbörgje nursing home in Groningen want the police to investigate whether the chief suspect in the recent HIV infection case has infected residents. The suspect worked at the nursing home. Investigation reportedly shows that he stole syringes from the facility.

Manager Marijke Wortel said on local television station RTV Noord on Tuesday that she does not suspect that the nurse did anything improper to the residents of the facility, but she does want to rule this out for certain.

The 48-year-old suspect in the Groningen case is HIV positive. At gay parties in Groningen he and two other suspects reportedly drugged other men and raped them without a condom. He also used syringes to inject other victims with his own infected blood.
