HP bribes case includes the Netherlands

RNW

The authorities in the United States have been investigating suspected bribery by computer giant Hewlett Packard for some time.

However, the news has just broken that the Netherlands is included in the list of countries where bribes were allegedly received.

There were already allegations that Hewlett Packard staff bribed officials in Russia and Germany. It has now been announced that the investigation is being extended to include Austria, Serbia, the Netherlands and countries in the former USSR.

It is said that Hewlett Packard employees not only bribed local officials but also people from other organisations, including business partners and major buyers. The evidence so far points to the company spending 35 million euros on bribes between 2001 and 2006.
