Several hundred people gathered on Saturday in Amsterdam´s central Dam square to protest against intensive factory farms.
A number of MPs addressed the crowd before joining a brief march through the city centre. The organisers called on the authorities stop the construction of more factory farms, end public funding for existing factory farms and to disclose fully the risks posed by the bio-industry.
The protesters carried banners with slogans such as “What do we want? Animals out of the plant” and “The meat industry: chop it up.” The crowds heard speeches by MPs of the Green Left party, Labour, the Socialist Party and the Animal Rights Party.
