AMSTERDAM - The anti-Koran film from Geert Wilders will not be broadcast on Dutch television. The Volkskrant reports that not a single channel wants to cooperate on the project.
The newspaper reports that Freedom party PVV leader Geert Wilders himself no longer believes he will find a broadcaster. No channel wants to agree to Wilders' condition that the film must be shown in its entirety.
Herrman van Gelderen of current affairs programme Netwerk was quoted in the Volkskrant: "We are very hesitant to air the film in its entirety. We do not do that with films from CDA or VVD, nor for the film from PVV. Apart from the fact that we are very concerned about inciting hate or discrimination."

At the moment and in this case in all Europe we have afraid of express ourselves only because some fanatics from the other side of the ocean decide to have a war with our fanatics.
Since that we are in the middle and have to deal with these 2 different worlds. No one has learnt a lesson from the WWI and WWII.

Does anyone see the catholic church blowing up TV stations for accusations of "kiddie fiddling"? No.
There are sects of the Muslim religion who need to learn that violent protest only degrades society's view of them........which by the sounds of it adds fuel to what this film lays claim to. Learn from your mistakes! Don't make people live in fear, it doesn't do anyone any good.
Convince people from speech, not violence.

How absurd! The whole point that Wilders is trying to make is that the koran itself incites nothing but hate and discrimination. Van Gelderen is a spineless and lily-livered appeaser. What a gutless place Holland has become! The Dutch will pay for this in the long term with a bloody civil war. Or slavery.
To blame Wilders for the violent reactions of Islamic fanatics....as many are doing...is like someone criticising Nazi ideology in 1938 and then blaming the critic for any violent response on the part of the Nazis and castigating him for discrimination and hating Nazi beliefs and hurting Nazi feelings. To accuse Wilders of inciting hatred is absurd and worse than disingenuous. It's sick. The whole point is that the koran does nothing but incite hatred and discrimination!
I'm not sure you should declare this an infringement on 'freedom of speech'. This right comes with responsibilities and I truly believe that Geert Wilders is doing this only to gain more attention to himself. He does not seem to have a point beyond demonising a whole population in order to gain votes for himself. I do not believe that he truly cares about this issue, but in order to gain noteriety he will not stop until someone is hurt or indeed dies -- in fact he may bask in the glory of the international attention when the it occurs. I think that the best thing everyone could do would be to ignore him and his film. Then I believe he would quietly fade into the woodwork.
I'm surprised that some readers here are supportive of Geert Wilders. He is a obviously a populist. If there are any terrorism and deaths resulting from the release of his film. He is to be blamed.
