Top international politicians, managers and academic researchers gathered in Amsterdam on Wednesday for a three-day Global Reporting Initiative.

AMSTERDAM - Top international politicians, managers and academic researchers gathered in Amsterdam on Wednesday for a three-day Global Reporting Initiative (GPI), a bi-annual conference about sustainability and the environment.

The GRI Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency effectively consists of two parallel sub-conferences.

At the academic conference, hosted by the Amsterdam Business School which is part of the University of Amsterdam, researchers would discuss ongoing research in the field of sustainability and alternative energy.

At the general conference, international politicians as well as top managers from multinational companies, such as Royal Dutch Shell, KLM, Heineken, and Philips, were due to discuss ways for governments and companies to enhance sustainable entrepreneurship and governance.

The conference was opened by Jordanian Queen Rania al Abdullah and is expecting to attract broad media attention. Two years ago, former US vice president Al Gore, who also made the film An Inconvenient Truth about sustainability, was keynote speaker.
