There's that old Religion of Pieces again (tm)...
why would the ministers lobby on the behalf of islamofacist terrorists and their ilk?
It's time the dutch govt. grow a backbone and call it what it is.... terrorism, and extortion, based on threats and intimidation of those that dare to point out the host of faults withing the cult of death
I have obviously not seen the film and my feeling is that it will not be of value to our society and will insult Islam without inspiring the much needed dialogue we all need.
But since when has freedom of speech been measured with the effects of Dutch companies abroad etc.? If a film offensive to Christianity was in the offing, the Minister would not plead for this not to be issued. It seems terrorism has won, it is all about intimidating and forcing other people to do what you want through the use of random violence and taking of innocent lives. The Minister is playing their game, with their rules and falling victim to the pressures of terrorism.
why do western parliamentarian democracies or republics need to curb their civil freedoms and change their tolerant culture to accomidate backwards and violent foreign religion? I know many European countries have a long history of curbing freedom of speech lest they offend an interested party or group (holocaust deniers come to mind) but even in this case allowing a person to speak their mind seems, at least to me, to be better than allowing ideas to be presecuted and ideas/movements to go 'underground'. In fact persecution of ideas can actually help promote them due to the press, paranoid thinkers, etc. Even worse though is when the TRUTH about a certain subject, in this case radical Islam, is deemed to be 'offensive' and thusly condemned or prohibitied. You think not allowing people to learn the TRUTH about many of the Islamic immigrants or movements in other countries will solve the problem or protect the nation?? Absurd. Denial doesn't make a problem go away.
