08/01/2009More working from home in Netherlands

About 50 percent of the companies in the Netherlands have employees working from home as of 2007.

THE NETHERLANDS – Figures from Statistics Netherlands show increasing numbers of Dutch companies are allowing employees to work from home.

In 2003, about a quarter of firms had personnel working either partially or the whole time from home. In 2007, nearly half the companies in the country had employees working at home.

The increase is less pronounced in small firms; nearly all big companies make savings on travelling time and costs by having staff working from home.

The practice is most common in the business service and financial sectors.
