THE NETHERLANDS - Despite the environment tax on air travel and high fuel prices, more Dutch people have booked flights to holiday destinations outside Europe this year.

The recent bad weather seems to have boosted the number of people seeking the sun. The weak dollar has led to more holidays being taken in the United States, and the Caribbean and Central America are also proving popular destinations.

The Far East is less popular this year, with the number of holidays to China down by 41 percent.
