14 February 2008

GHENT – A majority of asylum seekers and refugees become victims of violence when they arrive in Europe.

This emerged from an international study carried out in Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK.

The University of Ghent collected and analysed the research data. 62 percent of asylum seekers and refugees were confronted with emotional/psychological violence upon arriving in Europe, while 57 percent were confronted with sexual violence and 47 percent with other physical violence.

So, why do they continue to go to Europe?

What the heck is "emotional violence"? Being forced to confront values that aren't your own? This reminds me of the ridiculously subjective "studies" done in the U.S. - people are asked if they are oppressed and, gasp, they always say they are!

Maybe they are subjected to racist remarks.

It is the Muslim religious duty to kill the infidels. Who are the infidels? All who don’t believe in Olla? So I would imagine people feel threatened and react out.

Not that I disagree with you, Ted; but not all refugees to Europe are Muslim. Many are Christians from Africa who have escaped persecution from Muslims in their home country.
