Visitors may see a robotic hawk flying around the airport to keep out birds.

AMSTERDAM - De Telegraaf reports that Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport has introduced a remotely controlled robotic hawk to scare away birds from the runways.

Over the years, Schiphol has introduced a variety of measures to keep birds away from the airport, including laser beams, specially trained dogs and loudspeakers emitting birds' warning cries.

The flying scarecrow, which has been named ornithopter by its Dutch inventor, has a mechanism that makes it flap its wings just like a real bird, which apparently convinces birds that they are actually under attack.
