29/12/2010Extremely low calling rates on Expatica via Callthrough

Extremely low calling rates on Expatica via Callthrough Expatica and Callthrough.net have entered a partnership to provide users the possibility to make international calls at extremely low rates.

Expatica and Callthrough.net have entered a partnership to provide users the possibility to make international calls at extremely low rates, starting at three cents per minute to countries like the UK, US, Canada, India, Australia and more.

The routine is simple: A user first selects from an alphabethical which country he/she would like to call, and the rate and dial number is provided. Information is shown if the rate applies for a fixed landline, mobile number, or both, and a corresponding access number is given.

The dial procedure is like using a calling card on a landline. The access number (0900-XXXXXXX) is frist dialed, following the desired phone number (including the double zero and country code). When finished, users press the pound sign and the call is put through.

The entire procedure is quick and uncomplicated, but most importantly a competitive alternative to high-cost mobile charges and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) software such as Skype.

There are no sign up requirements or agreements, and a final charge is included in the user's normal telephone bill.

Callthrough is also available via mobile phones, however any international-calling fees charged by cell phone providers will not be discarded.

A call set-up charge of 4.5 cents is included in each call, yet afterwards the call is charged the listed rate per minute.

I wouldn't bother, this service is certainly not the cheapest out there and if you have your own landline set up paying a fixed monthly fee, you can actually get free calls around the world...

Oh and this '#' is not a pound sign, it's called a hash... this is a pound sign £, which isn't on a phone display.

@wesley-nl those sites are only for NL and GB, not Belgium and Germany.

I see that calling from Belgium is more expensive whatever the website is!

Hopefully they'll add Switzerland as well, in Germany it works like a charm!
