07/04/2008Dutch court refuses to ban Fitna

A Dutch court cites freedom of speech as reason to refuse ban on the anti-Islam film.

7 April 2008

THE HAGUE - A Dutch court has refused to ban a lawmaker's Internet film criticizing the Quran.

A group representing Dutch Muslims sought an injunction banning right-wing lawmaker Geert Wilders' film, Fitna. It links terror attacks by Muslim extremists with texts from Islam's holy book.

In a written judgment published Monday, a civil judge at The Hague District Court says Wilders' right to free speech allows him to criticize radical Islam and passages of the Quran.

The case is already largely moot. That is because Wilders posted the film on the Internet the day before lawyers representing the Netherlands Islamic Federation argued that the film should be outlawed because it was insulting to Muslims.

Thank God that there is a judical system in Holland that actually stands for the rights of people, Geert Wilders. I read how a motion was placed against him for his piece on Islam. So the big question is: What lie was told in this film? None, all he did was to show Holland and the world what has come and what will come. Islam is not a peaceful faith, read the book. This is just the begining between conflict of two faiths, two God's two views, one will prevail, and your hope should be in Jehoveh, not allah.

What a pity the freedom of speech/expression doesn't include voicing opinions of the royal family - in which I refer to the case where a man was jailed for four months for "insulting" the queen.
