7 February 2008

RIJSWIJK – 12,260,000 people in the US watched Peter R. de Vries' report on the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.

That is 11 percent of the people watching television during that time slot, according to figures released by Nielsen Media Research on Thursday.

The SBS6 programme, containing hidden camera footage of Joran van der Sloot, was broadcast by ABC on Monday evening. Since the US covers a number of time zones, it took longer to collate the national viewing figures. A reported 7 million people watched the broadcast in the Netherlands on Sunday.

In the US the Natalee Holloway report had competition from the Super Bowl over the weekend and the Super Tuesday coverage on Monday. Peter R. de Vries is in the US to appear on a number of prominent talk shows.
