08/04/2010Dutchman stages mugging to win back ex

A broken-hearted Dutchman staged a robbery to try and to win back his ex-girlfriend’s affections. He got a friend to pretend to mug her so he could come to the rescue.

As she was walking through the streets of The Hague, the young man’s friend approached the girl with a knife and demanded her purse. Seconds later the rejected lover came to her aid and chased the ‘robber’ away.

After the incident the couple reported the mugging to the police. But when police checked footage from a nearby security camera, they found the two men had been walking down the same street together moments before the robbery took place.

Unfortunately for lovesick 18-year-old, his ‘relationship therapy’ failed to have the desired effect. When she heard the true story behind the robbery, the girl told her ex she wanted nothing more to do with him.
The police and the public prosecutor's office are considering whether to bring charges against the two men.
