The body of 10-year-old Michael van Dijk has been found in a canal near his home in the village of Luttelgeest in the Flevoland polder.
The boy had been missing since Wednesday afternoon. He left his grandparents, but never returned home. Police issued an amber alert for him on Wednesday evening and have continued to search for him since then.
A police spokesman confirmed the body was recovered on Sunday morning.
