Dutch housing corporation Rochdale claims EUR 1 million from former chief Hubert Möllenkamp and seized his home and bank accounts.

The Netherlands - Dutch housing corporation Rochdale claims EUR 1 million from former chief Hubert Möllenkamp and seized his home and bank accounts. The confiscation is based on an accounts investigation which showed that Möllenkamp awarded himself a higher retirement pay and wrongful bonuses.

Rochdale claims that the charismatic and flamboyant housing director from Amsterdam spent thousands of company euros on private luxuries.
 
Rochdale reported Möllenkamp to the police in January. The corporation is currently awaiting results of the criminal investigation of some 20 suspect realty transactions Möllenkamp was involved in as chief of Rochdale.
 
Other Cases
 
Housing corporations have recently been at the centre of controversy, and Housing Minister Eberhard van der Laan wants to set limits on their independence, particularly in terms of the way they manage their finances.
 
Two former housing corporation chiefs received golden handshakes of 700,000 euros last year, the TV current affairs programme NOVA reports. One was the head of the Delta Wonen corporation in Zwolle, the other was Portaal, which chiefly operates in the central provinces.
 
NOVA also revealed that 130 of the housing corporation governors have held their posts longer than the sector's agreed maximum twelve-year term. Seven of them have been in their jobs for more than 20 years.

Last week the court of justice in The Hague decided that a former chief of housing corporation PWS in Rotterdam should pay back 5,4 million euros.
