Police investigation into pharmacist's assistant disappearance continues

18 October 2008

ANTILLES - Police on the Netherlands Antilles island of Bonaire have sealed off a stretch of land in connection with their investigation into the disappearance of Dutch pharmacist's assistant Marlies van der Kouwe. Two specialists from the Netherlands Forensic Institute are due to search the area. A radio station on Bonaire is reporting that a body has been found, but the police have refused to confirm this.

Marlies van der Kouwe disappeared last month after leaving a beach party to travel home on her scooter. Since her disappearance, police on the island have made several arrests. The chief suspect, together with two suspected accomplices, is still in prison.
