THE HAGUE -- The Dutch parliament asked Finance Minister Wouter Bos to provide more information about the government's EUR 4 billion rescue package for Fortis, the Belgian-Dutch banking and insurance company.
MPs have questions about ABN Amro, which Fortis took over in 2007 and will now be resold.
On Tuesday, Minister Bos said that, in hindsight, the takeover was not practical. He added that Fortis was not completely aware of ABN Amro’s problems before the takeover.
