THE NETHERLANDS -- School inspectors are taking to the classrooms and streets this week to check that children of school age are not absconding.
The checks are part of the "Hang in there" week that began on Monday. The Ministry of Education hopes this campaign will encourage young people who have quit school early to change their minds.
In particular, it wants to stimulate youngsters taking lower secondary education courses to go on to intermediate vocational education and learn a trade.
