Winterswijk – Dutch company Dalphin has received an order from the United States to supply 180 million bottles of Icelandic glacier water to US troops in the Middle East, reported the ANP.

The bottled water will also be sold by stores in the region.

The order was specifically for Icelandic glacier water because Iceland is not involved in any military conflicts in the Middle East.

Dalphin’s managing director Jan Snaphaan said consumers in the region are politically sensitive to purchasing water sourced in countries which have troops active in Afghanistan or Iraq.

The Netherlands has a military presence Afghanistan, but there has not been any opposition to Dalphin transporting the water.
 
Dalphin, based in the small town of Winterswijk in the east of the Netherlands, has dealt with large-scale orders from Dutch military customers in the past.

The water will be shipped via the port of Rotterdam.
