Chile's Bachelet heads to Netherlands, France

President Michelle Bachelet is currently on a European trip and he will be making official visites to both The Netherlands and France.

Santiago –  Chile's President Michelle Bachelet left Sunday on a European trip which will include official visits to the Netherlands and France, officials said.

Bachelet is due to arrive in the Netherlands Monday, where she is to meet Queen Beatrix and visit the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Chile plans to become a member of the court after a recent constitutional change recognizing the court's jurisdiction.

In France, which the socialist Chilean president is scheduled to visit 27-30 May, Bachelet will meet with President Nicolas Sarkozy and visit the headquarters of UNESCO.

On a personal sidetrip, Bachelet plans to stop in Chassagne-Montrachet from which her great great grandfather, Louis-Joseph Bachelet, emigrated in 1869.
