Demonstration against Wilders in Utrecht

15 January 2008

UTRECHT – Members of the International Socialists (IS) are demonstrating against Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders in Utrecht on Tuesday afternoon. The activists plan to distribute anti-Wilders posters at the Uithof.

The posters depict a cigarette pack with a photo of Wilders and the text: "Extremist – can cause serious harm to you and society." Last weekend demonstrators in Amsterdam distributing this same poster were arrested. The public prosecution department announced on Monday that these protesters would not be prosecuted.

The IS members in Utrecht are not worried about any legal action. "These campaigns are necessary and we are not going to be stopped by the possibility of arrest," they said on Tuesday.
