11/03/2009Savings guarantee with Dutch banks extended

People who put their money in Dutch banks will continue to have their savings of up to EUR 100,000 guaranteed should their banks go under.

THE HAGUE – Finance Minister Wouter Bos has announced that the current savings guarantee is to be extended until December 2010.

The guarantee states the state will pay savers up to EUR 100,000 should their banks fail.

The guarantee was due to end in October 2009. Bos said he had decided to extend it due to the persistence of the economic crisis.
