MADRID -- Spain's main Ibex-35 index was affected by the slowdown on Wall Street, falling 1.2 percent to 10,103 points as trading opened on Wednesday.
The general index of the Madrid stock exchange fell 1.3 percent to 1,082 points.
Nearly all the major companies on the stock market suffered losses, with the Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) down 1.74 percent, the oil company Repsol down 1.42 percent, Santander bank losing 1.17 percent and the energy company Iberdrola down 1.1 percent.
The only big company to gain value was the energy company Endesa, which gained 3.15 percent.
