17/08/2005Victoria Beckham says she loves life in Spain

17 August 2005

MADRID — The wife of David Beckham is giving up her pop career  to become a housewife and says she loves life in Spain.

Victoria Beckham, 31, the ex-Spice Girl, says she has turned her back on music forever and is not interested in celebrity.

She told a Spanish magazine Chic: “All I want to do now is stay in the shadows and look after my children.

“I’ve no plans to make music. I loved my time with the Spice Girls. But that’s the past.”

Beckham said her main aim in life is to make her husband David happy.

She said: “David is one of the most handsome, elegant and desired men on this planet.

"I am proud of being his wife. I’d do anything to make David happy."

Beckham also insisted she was delighted to be living in Spain, denying rumours she yearns for the UK.

She said: "It’s great here — the climate, the people, the restaurants.
"Things happen more slowly here.

"At first I had problems adapting to the pace of Spanish life.

"But now I’m grateful for it. I find it lovely. I can’t think of anything I don’t like about Spain."
