PARIS, May 31 (AFP) - Visitors to Paris' central Tuileries gardens are in for a surprise this week, with the installation of 15 temporary gardens by some of the country's top landscape gardeners.  

Ecological gardens will flourish next to anti-stress ones or landscapes for an urban environment designed as part of a celebration of "Gardens, gardens" to be held from Friday to Sunday in the park in association with the Louvre museum.  

"The garden is a magical meeting place between the public and the culture of gardening," said landscape gardener Xavieur Laureau, adding "we wanted to create a convivial place full of surprises where we can meet people and advise them."  

The aim is to give Parisians and visitors alike inspiration of what can be achieved in their own gardens and courtyards, or even on balconies or just with the aid of window boxes.  

"The garden is today the number one anti-stress antidote, a means of regathering your strength or rediscovering your values," said Pierre-Alexandre Risser who has designed his anti-stress garden around an ecological pool.  

Another gardener, Olivier Riols, presents his sophisticated Chinese garden complete with pagoda which he says combines all the vital elements of water, minerals and vegetation.  

Around 50 professionals will be on hand to give budding gardeners advice on everything from building walls to decorative trellises, and how to design a balcony garden.   Children aged three and upwards are invited to help plant an aromatic herb garden, while landscape gardeners will also give advice on how to improve gardens by assessing photos brought by the public.  

There will also be guided visits of the Tuileries, designed in 1664 by Le Notre, the gardener of king of France Louis XIV. The 26-hectare (64-acre) site, nestling between the Louvre and the bottom end of the Champs Elysees, today attracts some 10 million people annually.  

Entrance to the garden salon is 10 euros, free for the under 18s, with half going to the gardens to help pay for their upkeep. More details on www.culture.fr, www.louvre.fr and www.jardins.com.
