MADRID - A suspected ETA member accused of killing two people with a truck bomb at Madrid's Barajas airport in December 2006 ran a marathon in the Basque Country the day after the attack, documents and photographs made public Monday show.

The photos, which were published yesterday by the La Gaceta de los Negocios newspaper and apparently came from the suspects' attorney, show Martin Sarasola running the San Silvestre race in Azpeitia on 1 January 2007, less than 24 hours after the Barajas bombing. Sarasola ran the same race this year. He was arrested five days later along with Igor Portu, another suspect in the Barajas attack, in Mondragón in the Basque Country.

Sarasola's running partner and alleged fellow ETA member, Mikel San Sebastián, is still being hunted by police.
