GRAN CANARIA – Police confirmed on Thursday that a ten-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused in the same Gran Canaria village where another boy has disappeared.
Eight months ago, the girl’s mother claimed her daughter had been abused in Vecindario, the village from where Yeremi Vargas disappeared almost two weeks ago.
The girl was allegedly raped by a man who threatened her with a knife and forced her to get into a white van.
She managed to escape and returned home hours later.
Police later investigated the claims by the mother but could not find any clues apart from the reports of the girl.
A police spokesman said: “We are treating it as an open case. It could be related or not(with the disappearance of Yeremi).”
Yeremi disappeared on 10 March while he had been playing with cousins near his family home.
The girl was allegedly raped on 5 July 2006 when the girl was walking back home with her brother and sister.
