Pro-Tibetan rally hits Amsterdam Rally at Dam Square saw dozens of people protest against the Chinese government’s treatment of Tibet

1 April 2008

AMSTERDAM - Dozens of people held a rally in Amsterdam's Dam Square on Monday evening, to protest against the conduct of the Chinese authorities in Tibet.

They called for freedom for the Tibetan people and demanded that the Chinese government respect human rights in Tibet. They also called on Beijing to allow journalists and United Nations observers unrestricted access to the country.

The Tibetan government-in-exile estimates that Chinese security forces killed 130 demonstrators and arrested hundreds of monks during demonstrations in Tibet earlier this month.
