10/11/2008Holiday Monday?

Making "the bridge"....

10 November 2008

Many offices will be closed on today as Belgians take an extra day off work and "make the bridge" to the Armistice Day holiday on 11 November.

Don't be surprised, if you find yourself in front of a locked door on Monday. Many public services are either closed or will be running on a skeleton staff.

Most municipal offices will be closed, but supermarkets, banks and the automobile inspection will be open as usual.

Post offices are closed, but special post office desks in the Brussels South Station and Antwerp Central Station will be open.

In some schools it will be class as usual, but elsewhere school managements have opted to give staff and pupils an extra day off.

It's a mixed picture among municipal services. In Antwerp refuse collection will go ahead and libraries will be open.
