Brussels Airlines sets up Korongo

The new airliner will be based at the airport of Lubumbashi, the second largest city in Congo and the capital of the southern province of Katanga, bordering Zambia.

Brussels Airlines wants to organise a network of connections between various Central African cities via Kinshasa to Brussels. The new airline company will have one Boeing 737 in its first phase. Later a number of smaller passenger airplanes will be added to form the fleet.

According to plans, the new airliner should be operation in the spring of 2010. The project is being supported by the Belgian and Congolese aviation authorities in collaboration with the governments of both countries.
