Prices are going down in Belgium

In September inflation dipped from 0.02 percent in August to -0.12 percent this month.

This means that Belgian goods and services are getting cheaper in the shops.

The figures come from the Belgian Economy Ministry. Belgium’s economy is now in a state of deflation for the first time since 2009.

Energy and food prices are all down.

There are major concerns that deflation will be detrimental to the long-awaited economic recovery.

As consumers expect further price falls they put off big purchases damaging economic growth.
