In the most significant change, Leterme's own previous portfolio of foreign affairs was given to former public affairs minister, Flemish Christian Democrat Steven Vanackere.

Vanackere's post was filled by newcomer Inge Vervotte, from the same party.

The government is a coalition of five parties, two of them from Dutch-speaking Flanders to the north and three from francophone Wallonia.
