1 September 2008

BRUSSELS -- The 2008 Klarafestival kicked off on Friday offering music-lovers a wide range of concerts at various locations in and around Brussels.

If you are looking for some lunch time music entertainment, the Beursschowburg in downtown Brussels is the place to be at. Musicians such as Mikhel Poll and Pieter Wispelwey will be performing there over the next two weeks.

Evening concerts starting at 8pm will be held in both the Beursschouwburg and the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts.

The Centre for Fine Arts is located near to the city's Central Railway Station and is easily accessible by train, tram, bus and metro.

Adventurous '2 Late Nights' events offer two concerts, a classical music for strings and a pop concert will be staged in the Centre for Fine Arts.

The idea behind the concerts is to show that the boundaries between different musical genres are not clearly defined.

Performaces at new public spaces
Another of the festival's leitmotivs is to have the great classical masterpieces performed in exciting new public spaces.

A concert will be held in the Sky Hall at Brussels Airport in Zaventem on 12 September – the last day of the Klarafestival.

There will also be performances in train and metro stations. A concert by the Coro dell' Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia will also be held on Brussels' stunning Market Square.
