26/06/2009Belgium finds no trace of cocaine in Red Bull Cola

The Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC) reassures the Belgian population that there is no need for concern whatsoever.

Food and beverage inspectors in Germany had found traces of cocaine in Red Bull Cola. As it turned out the quantity was minimal and it did not pose a threat to public health, according to the German authorities. The beverage was removed from the shelves anyway because cocaine is an illegal substance.

Based on the news in Germany the Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain had 20 samples of the drink examined. "In all twenty cases the analysis results were the same," reports the FASFC in a press release. No traces of cocaine were found.

If there was any cocaine in the beverage it was so negligible that it did not show up in the analysis.
