18/09/2009Belgian king buys two apartments by the sea

King Albert has bought two apartments and three garages in Ostend, revealed the Flemish network VTM in a programme on Wednesday. The sum of the recent purchases amounts to between EUR 1.5 and 2 million.

The commercial TV network was able to consult the official sale documents. The total surface area of the apartments, which are still being constructed, comes to over 500m².

The website of the property developer says that it builds luxury flats made from expensive materials, and includes designer kitchens and modern furniture.

Media reports last week suggested that the royal couple might also buy a villa in France, but this information was denied by palace officials. However, the king did invest recently in a new yacht.
