23/07/2009An apple a day keeps the assassin away

Queen Fabiola responds to death threats by producing… an apple.

The former queen of the Belgian received a letter from a man who threatened to shoot her with a crossbow during the traditional National Day parade.

The threats have been taken very seriously by the police and armed forces.

Fabiola, however, responded to the threats in a light-hearted manner, by producing an apple from her bag during the procession, an allusion to the William Tell legend, where Tell is forced to shoot at an apple placed on his son’s head.
